SMW2+4 Demo Released

A four-level demo of my new Yoshi's Island hack, SMW2+4, has been released.

Not sure if this hack will be completed, given that the ROM is severely messed up. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I'm using SMW2+2 as base, which I created using EggVine, and I'm now using Golden Egg.

Notes/Known Issues:
-Level icons, title screen, etc. are not edited. They're the same at SMW2+2. They'll be done at a later time if I'm ever able to fix my ROM and finish the hack
-Game over screen text is glitched, no idea why

Super Mario Underworld Ending

First order of business...wrapping up Super Mario Underworld.

The hack's been long dead (how fitting) but I'd figure I'd finally post the ending to it since Episode 2 ended on a big cliffhanger. This chronicles everything that happens after the end of Episode 2 to the planned finale of the hack.

Mario, Daisy, and Arthur meet a shady fellow named Koopaolo in the East Tunnel. This Koopa knows a suspicious amount of information about Mario, especially the circumstances of his latest visit to the Underworld. After Koopaolo aids the gang through their journey in the tunnels, it's revealed that he is the "Inferior Voice" in cahoots with the "Superior Voice", and has been tasked with keeping tabs on Mario and assuring he makes it to the Big Boss's mansion promptly.

The gang cross a bridge over a void, only to be welcomed by a daunting and treacherous mansion. After overcoming the many challenges of the mansion, Mario and company finally meet the one responsible for his latest stint in the Underworld...Tatanga. After a less than successful date with Daisy many years ago, he went on to invade her homeland of Sarasaland to claim the princess as his own. Mario saved the day once again, and Tatanga's lust toward Daisy and grudge against Mario certainly hasn't faded over the years.

Tatanga reveals to be the mastermind behind Mario's most recent arrival to the Underworld, having Koopaolo rig the collapsing bridge Mario fell through. Tatanga wants to assure that Mario's final demise was an unforgettable one, and that he could finally land the woman of his dreams. He then wisks the gang back to the void, where he plans to carry out his ultimate plan of pushing Mario into it, wiping him out from the world permanently, and finally exacting his revenge. Only problem is...Tatanga succeeds! Mario is plunged to his demise into the void!

Furious, Daisy reiterates that she never has and never wants any kind of relationship with Tatanga. Exacerbated by the lovely lady's refusal to budge, Tatanga orders Koopaolo to power up his spaceship so he can take out Daisy as well! Daisy is left to fend for herself and go face-to-face with Tatanga. After she exhausts Tatanga's ship of its power, Daisy has the pleasure of dealing the final blow to her jilted ex by heaving him into the void and out of existence forever.

After the exhausting battle, Arthur and Daisy mourn the loss of their friend Mario, but also wonder how Tatanga's ship was able to lose power so easily. It's then revealed that Koopaolo turned against his boss and never powered up his ship as requested, in return for his highly unappreciative attitude towards Koopaolo. He also has another surprise in store...Mario clung to a ledge as he was falling into the void, and made it back to safety. Daisy sees Koopaolo's sweet side, and they agree to go on a date upon returning to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Mario, Daisy, Arthur, and Koopaolo finally escape the Underworld and make their triumphant return to the Mushroom Kingdom. Luigi and Peach welcome Mario back. As the gang is taking a walk, however...Luigi is struck by a Goomba.

The credits roll.

In a post-credits scene, Arthur...or should we say, Wart...is seen talking to himself, feeling victorious for having duped Mario with his phony identity into helping him return to the Mushroom Kingdom. Wart then contemplates all his plans now that he has returned from the Underworld...and settles on finding a good burger joint, albeit, one that serves them without any veggies...he still hates those things!

And that's that. More to come...
